Preparation
- Secure the vehicle: Make sure the vehicle is secured in Park (P), completely deactivated (ignition/system off), and that the ventilation/air conditioning is switched off.
- Protection & hygiene: Place a mat or cloth under the work area to catch falling dirt. Safety glasses and a dust mask will protect you from falling dust and pollen. It is best to have a vacuum cleaner ready to vacuum out the housing before installation.
- Lighting: Since the installation location is usually dark, we recommend using a headlamp or flashlight for the best possible visibility.
- Tools: You do not need any tools for the replacement. An optional plastic pry tool can help remove the side trim in the footwell.

Step-by-step instructions
-
Loosen the side trim / cover
Look into the passenger footwell on the left side of the center console. If necessary, unclip the lower cover or soft carpet trim to get a clear view of the vertically mounted filter housing. -
Open the filter housing cover
The vertical filter cover is located on the center console. Press the retaining tab on the cover together and remove the cover toward the front. -
Remove both old filter elements
This vehicle platform uses a dual-filter set. First, pull out the upper/front filter element. Then reach into the shaft, lift the second/lower filter element, and pull it out as well. -
Insert the new filter elements one after the other
First slide the first new filter element into the shaft and press it down/up into the housing. Then insert the second filter element directly behind or above it.↔ Airflow: The arrows on the long sides of both filters must point toward the rear (toward the back of the vehicle)!
💡 Pro tip: Make sure the first filter element slides properly into its guide rail before inserting the second one. Slide them in gently to avoid bending the outer edges of the filter pleats!
-
Close the housing & reattach the trim
Fit the filter cover and press it firmly until the retaining tab audibly clicks into place. Then press the carpet or side trim in the footwell back into its retaining clips.
